SEARCH’s House of Tiny Treasures (HTT) provides high-quality early childhood education for children ages 21 months to 6 years who have experienced homelessness. Our mission is to break the cycle of deep poverty by investing in the next generation during pivotal years of development. We offer a full-day, year-round program at our dedicated campus in Houston’s Third Ward, near TSU, UH Main, UH Downtown, and HCC Downtown.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Afternoon Closer Preschool Teacher/Caregiver who is passionate about nurturing and educating young children. This role is ideal for individuals studying early childhood education or those with a natural gift for teaching and caregiving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support afternoon transitions and extend learning through play-based activities.
  • Supervise outdoor play and maintain a safe, engaging environment.
  • Assist with lesson plan implementation based on Reggio Emilia-inspired practices.
  • Serve as a van rider to ensure safe transportation for children departing mid-afternoon.
  • Assist with end-of-day routines, ensuring smooth pick-up for families.
  • Occasionally pick up morning hours as needed.
  • Substitute teaching opportunities available for flexible schedules.

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass FBI background checks.
  • Prefer 1 year of experience working with children in a school setting.
  • Candidates with 12 hours of early childhood coursework or a CDA credential may qualify for full-time roles.
  • Entry-level candidates may be considered for substitute positions.

Location: SEARCH’s House of Tiny Treasures – Houston, TX
Schedule: Part-time, 25 hours/week (Mon–Fri, 12:45 PM – 5:45 PM)

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
