- Assist in the preparation and production of pastries, desserts, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods.
- Follow recipes and instructions accurately to ensure consistency and quality of all items.
- Ensure all pastry items are stored correctly and adhere to proper food safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and workstations, ensuring all tools and equipment are clean and organized.
- Help with inventory management, including receiving deliveries, checking stock, and organizing ingredients.
- Assist with decorating cakes, pastries, and desserts with attention to detail and presentation.
- Monitor and maintain baking equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and reporting any issues to senior chefs.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
- Assist with daily mise en place, ensuring the kitchen is ready for service.
- Participate in training sessions and develop skills under the guidance of senior pastry chefs.
- Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment, particularly in a pastry department, is desirable but not required.
- Basic knowledge of pastry techniques, baking, and dessert preparation is an asset.
- A passion for pastry and a desire to learn and grow in the culinary field.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, depending on the needs of the business.
