We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with strong accounting expertise to join our team. This role goes beyond traditional payroll processing, you’ll play a key part in ensuring payroll accuracy while supporting general ledger activities, expense tracking, and multi-type pay structures.

Job Summary:
The Certified Payroll Accountant / Payroll Specialist will manage end-to-end payroll operations while supporting key accounting functions. This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of payroll and accounting, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process end-to-end payroll for employees across multiple pay types (hourly, salaried, bonuses, commissions, and other variable compensation)
  • Enter and verify timecards, commissions, bonuses, and adjustments accurately and on time
  • Reconcile payroll data with the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting
  • Prepare and post payroll journal entries, including accruals and adjustments
  • Maintain payroll records and reconcile payroll-related accounts
  • Review and analyze payroll-related expenses, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Audit payroll tax reports and required documentation
  • Assist with additional payroll/HR audits as needed
  • Coordinate with department managers to gather necessary payroll inputs
  • Handle employee inquiries related to payroll, deductions, and taxes
  • Collaborate with HR to support compensation, benefits, and daily HR operations
  • Continuously improve payroll processes, internal controls, and reporting accuracy

Qualifications:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
  • 2+ years of payroll experience with a strong accounting focus
  • Solid understanding of general ledger processes, reconciliations, and expense tracking
  • Experience handling multiple pay types and complex payroll scenarios
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and accounting software (e.g., Paycom, Reynolds, or similar)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information

Pay: $62,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
