Payroll Specialist

Southern Careers Institute (SCI) is seeking a knowledgeable Payroll Specialist to process and manage the company’s payroll. This position offers a competitive base salary plus incentive compensation.

Responsibilities include:

• Compile payroll data such as hours worked, sales or piecework, taxes, and insurance to be withheld, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records;
• Prepare computer input forms, enter data into computer files, or compute wages and deductions and post to payroll records;
• Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll;
• Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records;
• Prepare and issue paychecks;
• Review and approve payroll deductions;
• Interpret company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures;
• Coordinate employee benefits enrollment and deductions with HR benefits coordinator;
• Ensure ongoing coordination with HR to properly capture correct pay for New Hires and Terminations.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in a related field or 2-3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Strong knowledge Payroll, HR, Benefits management systems – Ceridian / Dayforce preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; specifically Excel and it’s advanced functions;
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills;
• Strong verbal communication, written communication, listening, record keeping and information management.
