Payroll Specialist

Beelman Truck Co. is currently hiring for an experienced Payroll Specialist to work at our headquarters located in East St. Louis, Illinois. We are a large, dry bulk transportation company looking for the right candidate to join our busy team.

Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist administers the organization’s payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant employee compensation. This role maintains payroll systems, ensures adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, and serves as a subject-matter expert for payroll-related issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Review payroll transactions for accuracy, including wages, deductions, taxes, and garnishments.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
• Manage payroll-related audits and respond to internal and external audit requests.
• Maintain payroll records, reports, and documentation in accordance with retention requirements.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Review payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end activities (W-2s, 1099s).
• Collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, and Benefits teams on payroll-related matters.
• Support payroll system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements.
• Must be willing and able to perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

· Trucking/Transportation experience.

· 4+ years of experience with processing payroll.

• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour requirements.

· Experience with payroll systems and timekeeping software. ADP Next Gen experience a plus.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office applications. Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS etc.)

Pay: $55,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
