Job Overview

Payroll Team Lead is expected to:
  • Be first point of escalation for all US Payroll related issues , HR and Finance team members, External Vendors
  • Lead team with accountability of end to end Inhouse payroll processing and management support
  • Focuses on Process Improvement opportunities
  • Delivers service excellence to Employees, Managers and HR professionals
  • Maintenance of high Employee Engagement Scores
  • Should be expert of inhouse payroll processing in Workday for US and Canada Employees along with Tax knowledge and Garnishment process
  • Transition of work as and when needed to Mumbai center and appropriate allocation and management

Payroll Processing:
  • Ensures team is performing the day to day payroll processing activities & Overall Accountability of US and Canada payroll processing
  • Analyze and prioritizes incoming work amongst team to ensure data is processed by the cut-off date
  • Accountable for the transactional process work and data entry, ongoing HR process harmonization/improvement, and processing within the region/market
  • Play a critical role of acting as a “Liaison” between Payroll team and Tax Agencies, Vendors, HR, and Finance teams
  • Leads Process Improvement, Standardization and Automation opportunities
  • Be Payroll Checker for all supported payroll for different wage types EEs i.e. Wage, Salaried etc.
  • Review Validation of gross to net process and approval bank files and necessary payroll routes
  • Accountable for effective and efficient delivery of Payroll across network – deliver SLA’s (service level agreement’s), KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), metrics/measures
  • Analyze work intake and provide team’s assistance to manage payroll queries over Service Now case management tool
  • Mitigating risks related to: SOX audits, data privacy, security, visibility, other related regional concerns
  • Provides level 3 inquiry payroll support to employees, managers and HR. Escalate issues to vendor as needed
  • Effectively communicate with diverse Stakeholders
  • Provide timely updates to Stakeholders and proactively resolve issues
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer orientation towards stakeholders
  • Build a trusting and effective relationship with payroll vendors / partners
  • Ensure Garnishment orders are actioned on timely basis along with appropriate responses to agencies, authorities as applicable
  • Work closely with US team members

Reporting & MIS:
  • Ownership of the end to end payroll processing of all employees of US and Canada region
  • Update and Review of payroll service metrics at a set frequency
  • Ensure all relevant tools are reviewed and updated on timely manner – SN case etc.
  • Review and Dashboard management is completed with all team members updates
  • Accountable for all reporting and reconciliations, Payroll tax updates, including the oversight of all year-end activities with vendor
  • Ensuring team is updating Payroll KPI reports on time and correctly as soon as payroll is over
  • Creation / Review of Eligible Earning reports
  • Supporting Audit and other adhoc reporting requirements
  • Testing – provide support for Testing (initial and any ongoing)
  • Ensures project related trackers and worksheets and documentation process is reviewed on periodic basic

  • Be the go-to person for information and guidance on end to end US and Canada payroll processes
  • Ensure BCP / FMEA / Automation / uPerform and other process documentations /trackers are updated for training and business continuity.Drive process improvement through Continuous Improvement tools

  • Identify and leverage HMM opportunities
  • Support activities with metrics focus
  • Automate processes and adopt technology where needed
  • Responsible to actively partner in Service Excellence Framework execution
  • Lead Inhouse Payroll processing team of US and Canada
  • Lead Team Engagements w.r.t. Team meetings, update, etc.
  • Drive changes within region for enhanced payroll scope, new capabilities etc.

Experience

Minimum years of related experience required:

7-9 years of US and Canada payroll experience with customer service experience
Inhouse payroll processing experience of Workday

Preferred years of related experience:

5-7 years of Team handling experience
Any Payroll or related process Transition Experience
