Position Overview
The Pellet Machine Operator & Maintenance Officer is responsible for operating and monitoring wood pellet production machinery while ensuring routine maintenance for uninterrupted plant operations. The role requires hands-on expertise in machine operation, troubleshooting, and basic mechanical/electrical maintenance. The position also includes adherence to SOPs for safe machine operation, preventive maintenance, and minimizing downtime.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pellet Machine Operation
- Operate pellet mill machines and related equipment (conveyors, hammer mill, dryer, etc.).
- Ensure raw material feeding, pellet formation, and output meet quality standards.
- Monitor machine parameters (temperature, pressure, power load, etc.) during production.
- Perform safe start-up and shutdown procedures as per SOPs.
2. Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections, cleaning, and lubrication of pellet machines.
- Assist in basic electrical maintenance (circuit checks, panel monitoring, wiring support).
- Perform mechanical fitting, adjustment, and replacement of worn parts.
- Report major maintenance requirements to the Plant Manager for corrective action.
3. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Prepare and maintain daily machine checklists and maintenance records.
- Perform minor troubleshooting to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
- Support in roller, die, and other critical part servicing when required.
- Ensure machine alignment and calibration for optimal pellet production.
4. Safety, Reporting & Compliance
- Follow all workplace safety standards and PPE requirements.
- Ensure strict compliance with operational SOPs during production and maintenance.
- Maintain logs of production data, machine performance, and maintenance activities.
- Report deviations, breakdowns, or safety concerns to management immediately.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Consistent machine uptime and minimized downtime.
- Timely execution of preventive maintenance schedules.
- Quality compliance of produced pellets (size, density, durability).
- Accuracy and timeliness of daily operational and maintenance logs.
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Technology or equivalent.
- Experience: 1–3 years in pellet production, feed mill, biomass, or related plant operations.
- Hands-on knowledge of pellet mill operations and basic mechanical/electrical maintenance.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems (rollers, dies, conveyors, motors).
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems (wiring, breakers, control panels).
- Proficiency in using maintenance tools and diagnostic instruments.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in coordination with the production team.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Production Efficiency
- Pellet machine uptime target: ≥ 90%.
- Achieving daily/weekly pellet production targets (quantity & quality).
- Reduction in raw material wastage (≤ 2% of input material).
Maintenance Performance
- Execution of preventive maintenance schedules: 100% on time.
- Number of unplanned breakdowns: ≤ 2 per month.
- Average downtime per breakdown: ≤ 30 minutes.
- Accuracy and completeness of daily maintenance logs: 100% compliance.
Quality & Safety
- Pellet quality compliance (size, density, durability): ≥ 95% of batches.
- Zero major safety incidents or violations.
- Proper start-up/shutdown compliance: 100% adherence to SOPs.
Reporting & Communication
- Timely submission of daily production & maintenance reports.
- Immediate escalation of faults beyond operator scope.

Pay: Rs50,000.00 - Rs60,000.00 per month
