The Permits & Licensing Analyst – U.S. Compliance is responsible for managing, monitoring, and ensuring regulatory compliance related to business permits, licenses, and operational approvals across U.S. jurisdictions. This role supports internal teams and clients by ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to retail and multi-location business operations.
The ideal candidate has experience in U.S. permits and licensing, regulatory compliance, or operational risk management, and demonstrates strong documentation, coordination, and regulatory research skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local permit and licensing requirements applicable to retail and commercial operations.
- Identify, apply for, track, and renew required business licenses, operational permits, and regulatory approvals across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of permits, licenses, approvals, and regulatory correspondence in accordance with internal policies and client agreements.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including operations, legal, finance, and store management teams, to ensure permit and licensing requirements are met prior to store openings, renewals, expansions, or operational changes.
- Identify compliance gaps, risks, or lapses related to permits and licenses and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor changes in U.S. regulatory requirements, zoning rules, and licensing laws, and ensure timely communication and implementation of updates.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for government agencies, municipalities, and third-party service providers regarding permit and licensing matters.
- Prepare compliance summaries, permit status reports, and audit-ready documentation for management and clients.
- Support clients in understanding and meeting regulatory and licensing obligations across different states and local jurisdictions.
- Ensure high standards of data accuracy, confidentiality, and governance across compliance tracking systems and internal databases.
- Provide guidance and training to internal teams on permit and licensing requirements, processes, and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, Public Administration, Compliance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in U.S. permits and licensing, regulatory compliance, or operational risk management, preferably supporting retail or multi-location businesses.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks related to business licensing and permits.
- Experience coordinating with government agencies and external vendors.
- Proficiency with compliance tracking systems, databases, and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain regulatory requirements clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
