We are seeking a qualified Physician Assistant to support our healthcare team in a flexible remote/hybrid, per diem role. This position is ideal for someone seeking casual work with variable hours and remote flexibility.
The Physician Assistant will assist with clinical documentation, inbox management, care coordination, medication prescribing, ordering appropriate laboratory studies, imaging, and procedures, reviewing clinical reports, and ensuring timely completion of records for billing and continuity of care.
This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent documentation skills, familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, and the ability to manage time-sensitive medical records, patient communications, and provider tasks accurately and efficiently. Strong attention to detail is essential, including the ability to thoroughly review clinical records and compile concise, comprehensive clinical summaries.
The successful candidate will work closely with the supervising provider to support patient care, optimize clinical workflows, and ensure that all clinical documentation, orders, and communications are completed accurately and promptly.
Responsibilities
- Review laboratory results, imaging reports, consultation notes, hospital records, and other pertinent clinical documentation.
- Order appropriate medications, laboratory testing, imaging studies, referrals, and procedures using proper diagnosis codes and supporting documentation.
- Assist with medication management, prescription refills, prior authorizations, and treatment plan implementation.
- Accurately document patient encounters using HIPAA-compliant AI-generated notes, voice dictation, and provider instructions.
- Manage provider inbox communications, patient portal messages, refill requests, and clinical follow-up tasks.
- Prioritize urgent clinical matters and ensure timely communication with patients and providers.
- Coordinate patient care across multiple specialties and healthcare settings.
- Schedule and monitor patient follow-ups, referrals, testing, and treatment plans.
- Conduct or assist with telehealth, video, phone, and in-person patient visits when clinically appropriate.
- Review and communicate laboratory, imaging, and consultation results to patients under provider supervision and within scope of practice.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant medical records within the EMR/EHR system.
- Utilize appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis coding and support accurate clinical documentation for billing purposes.
- Assist in developing and implementing patient care plans.
- Ensure all records, orders, communications, and documentation are completed in a timely manner to support quality patient care and efficient billing processes.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Qualifications
- Current Physician Assistant license in good standing.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, diagnostic testing, and clinical workflows.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems and medical documentation.
- Excellent clinical judgment and attention to detail.
- Strong typing, transcription, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and time-sensitive clinical responsibilities.
- Experience reviewing laboratory results, imaging reports, consultation notes, and treatment plans.
- Prior experience in primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, urgent care, or specialty care preferred.
