PURPOSE:
The role ensures that all pipe fitting and repair work are executed safely, efficiently, and according to technical specifications, quality standards, and operational schedules. The Foreman also supervises pipe fitters, helpers, and maintenance crews in daily field operations.
ROLES & RESPOSIBILITIES
- Plan, organize, and supervise pipe fitting crews engaged in installation, maintenance, and repair of sewage network pipelines and fittings.
- Review work orders, drawings, and specifications to determine materials, manpower, and equipment requirements.
- Direct field teams in performing pipe cutting, jointing, threading, welding, and alignment according to approved methods.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with design standards, workmanship quality, and safety regulations.
- Identify and diagnose pipe damage, leakages, or blockages and recommend suitable repair solutions.
- Coordinate with engineers and supervisors for work scheduling, resource allocation, and progress reporting.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, machinery, and vehicles assigned to the crew.
- Maintain daily activity reports, timesheets, and material usage logs.
- Enforce compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures, including confined space entry and traffic management.
- Participate in emergency response operations, such as sewer overflows, breakages, or flooding incidents.
- Train and mentor pipe fitters and helpers to improve their technical skills and work efficiency.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (electrical, mechanical, civil) to ensure smooth project execution.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in sewage network or water pipeline operations and maintenance, including at least 2–3 years in foreman role.
Competencies:
- Proficient in pipe fitting, jointing methods, and field repair techniques.
- Identifies faults and determines efficient repair methods.
- Follows confined space entry, PPE, and hazard control procedures.
- Works cooperatively with supervisors, operators, and other crew members.
- Consistently performs duties with accuracy, punctuality, and dependability.
- Responds effectively to changing site conditions or emergency repair needs.
- Ensures proper alignment, sealing, and testing of all pipe connections.
Education:
- High School Diploma / Technical or Vocational Certificate in Plumbing, Pipefitting, or Mechanical Trades.
