Job Overview:

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules across all phases — pre-turnaround, execution, and post-turnaround. The role requires expertise in Primavera and strong coordination skills to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the complete project lifecycle and prepare a detailed project scope in alignment with the contract agreement.
  • Develop resource-loaded and logically sequenced baseline project schedules for all turnaround phases — Pre-TA, TA Execution, and Post-TA.
  • Define formats and frequency for progress tracking and reporting across all project stakeholders.
  • Verify and consolidate resource requirements including manpower, equipment, tools, and consumables based on project norms and schedules.
  • Set up alerts for critical milestones and contractual deliverables to ensure timely completion.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with responsible teams to achieve targets, highlight potential delays, and propose corrective actions or recovery plans.
  • Generate and distribute look-ahead schedules to the development, construction, and project management teams.
  • Continuously monitor project progress against baseline schedules and update for any scope changes or deviations.
  • Track critical and near-critical activities , report delays, and provide recommendations to senior management and the turnaround manager.
  • Provide scheduling support to the Project Manager for variations or change orders.
  • Participate in job package reviews and progress walk-downs with the Project Manager.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports to the client and Head Office as per defined timelines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) from an accredited university.
  • 6–10 years of experience as a Planning Engineer with a Consultant, Contractor, or PMC — minimum 6+ years in the UAE .
  • Experience in high-rise building projects ; exposure to working with a developer is preferred.
  • Proficient in Primavera (minimum 5+ years of experience) and familiar with modern planning tools and techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of turnaround processes and resource computation norms (manpower, equipment, tools, and consumables).
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload , ensuring timely completion of tasks and deliverables.
  • Excellent ability to interpret project specifications, schematics, and technical drawings .
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills — capable of liaising effectively with management, engineers, and contractors.
