Responsibilities

The Planning Engineer (ICT) plays a critical role in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of large-scale ICT infrastructure and systems projects. This role ensures that ICT projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with technical and business requirements. The Planning Engineer works closely with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to develop and maintain project schedules, mitigate risks, and optimize resource utilization.

  • Develop, update, and manage detailed project schedules for ICT projects, including network infrastructure, data centers, software systems, and telecommunications.
  • Coordinate with technical teams, vendors, and subcontractors to gather inputs for accurate planning and forecasting.
  • Prepare project baseline schedules and monitor progress against timelines using tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.
  • Analyze project scope, work breakdown structures (WBS), and dependencies to identify critical paths and potential bottlenecks.
  • Ensure alignment between ICT workstreams (e.g., cabling, servers, switches, cybersecurity, system integration) and overall project milestones.
  • Track and report progress using earned value management (EVM) techniques and KPIs.
  • Conduct time impact analysis (TIA) and support claims or extension of time (EOT) submissions, when required.
  • Facilitate regular planning reviews and status meetings with stakeholders.
  • Integrate ICT schedules with MEP and civil schedules on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Prepare detailed planning reports, dashboards, and risk mitigation plans for internal and external reporting.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ICT, Electrical, Computer, or related fields).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in project planning, with at least 3 years in ICT infrastructure or systems integration projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Solid understanding of ICT systems including structured cabling, data centers, networking, ELV systems, telecom, and enterprise IT.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary project environments (e.g., smart buildings, smart cities, or data center projects).
  • Familiarity with project management frameworks such as PMBOK or PRINCE2.

Preferred Certifications:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • ITIL or PRINCE2 certification
  • Oracle Primavera or Microsoft Project Certification
  • PSP (Planning and Scheduling Professional – AACE) is an advantage
