planning Engineer

Job Title: Planning Engineer

A Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely completion within budget. The role involves coordinating with project managers, engineers, and contractors to track progress, identify delays, and implement corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project schedules using planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Prepare Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Monitor project progress and update schedules regularly.
  • Analyze critical path and identify potential risks or delays.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Coordinate with site engineers, procurement, and management teams.
  • Track resource allocation (manpower, materials, equipment).
  • Conduct delay analysis and recommend recovery plans.
  • Support tender planning and baseline schedule preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with contract timelines and milestones.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
  • 10+ years of experience in project planning or scheduling (varies by level).
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles.
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies and contracts.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Risk management experience.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts.
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills.
