Planning Engineer cum Quantity Surveyor

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

We are currently hiring a qualified QS cum Planning Engineer to join our team for an upcoming project based in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience as a QS/Planning Engineer, preferably in the UAE or GCC region.
  • Experience in managing schedules for large-scale construction projects (residential, commercial, infrastructure).
  • Familiarity with Abu Dhabi’s construction regulations and local authority requirements is preferred.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PSP) is an advantage.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in scheduling tools like Primavera P6 & & Plan swift.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Ability to perform delay analysis and prepare extension-of-time (EOT) claims.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review bills of quantities, cost estimates, and tender documents.
  • Monitor project budgets and track variations and cost implications.
  • Evaluate contractor claims, variations, and payment applications.
  • Provide cost advice and support to the project team throughout all stages of construction.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and clients to ensure accurate and timely cost reporting.
  • Assist in contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Identify project milestones, critical paths, and key deliverables to ensure timely completion.
  • Establish baseline schedules and track variances against actual progress.
  • Monitor and analyze project progress on a regular basis, providing detailed progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits to verify work progress and align it with the project schedule.
  • Evaluate contractor schedules and highlight any discrepancies or risks.
  • Identify potential delays and risks affecting the project timeline.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions to address schedule slippage.
  • Assist in resolving scheduling conflicts and resource constraints.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and subconsultants to integrate schedules and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Conduct regular meetings to review project schedules and progress updates.
  • Act as a liaison between the planning team and other project stakeholders.
  • Assess resource requirements for the project and ensure optimal utilization.
  • Monitor and forecast manpower, equipment, and material needs to avoid project delays.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, including S-curves, Gantt charts, and project status updates.
  • Provide analysis on earned value management (EVM) to measure project performance.
  • Ensure project planning and scheduling practices comply with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Incorporate local regulations and Abu Dhabi-specific requirements into project schedules.
