Evolve Landscaping is seeking a highly capable Spray Technician to help build, manage, and produce a dedicated Plant Health Care (PHC) division. This is not an entry-level production role we are looking for a technician who wants to grow into leadership and take ownership of a developing service line.

Position Overview

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Executing fertilizer, herbicide, insecticide, and fungicide applications

  • Diagnosing turf and ornamental plant health issues

  • Developing and managing PHC treatment programs

  • Maintaining regulatory compliance and application records

  • Assisting in building systems, pricing models, and operational workflows for the PHC division

  • Supporting sales efforts through property evaluations and client education

Over time, this role can evolve into PHC Division Manager based on performance and leadership capability.


Core Responsibilities

Technical Production

  • Perform lawn and ornamental applications according to label and state regulations

  • Identify turf diseases, weeds, insects, and nutrient deficiencies

  • Calibrate and maintain spray equipment

  • Ensure proper mixing, handling, and storage of chemicals

  • Maintain accurate application and service records

Program Development

  • Help design annual turf and ornamental programs

  • Assist in product selection and vendor sourcing

  • Contribute to pricing strategy and margin targets

  • Develop standardized treatment protocols

Operational Management

  • Maintain compliance with NCDA&CS pesticide regulations

  • Track material usage and cost of goods

  • Maintain safety standards and PPE compliance

  • Assist in building scalable scheduling systems


Qualifications

  • Valid North Carolina Pesticide Applicator License (Required)

    • Required categories: Ornamental & Turf, Right-of-Way
    • Optional but preferred: Aquatic, Public Health
  • 2+ years of professional turf or PHC spray experience

  • Strong diagnostic ability (turfgrass and ornamental pests/disease)

  • Knowledge of calibration, mix rates, and label compliance

  • Ability to work independently and manage a route

  • Clean driving record

  • Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and working outdoors in NC climate

Preferred:

  • Experience building or managing a spray route

  • Experience with granular and liquid systems

  • Familiarity with ride-on or truck-mounted spray rigs

  • Interest in leadership and division growth
