About the Role:

The Plasma Operator plays a critical role in the durable goods manufacturing process by expertly managing and operating plasma cutting and welding equipment to shape and assemble metal components with precision. This position ensures that all plasma operations meet stringent quality standards and production schedules, contributing directly to the efficiency and output of the manufacturing line. The operator will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings and specifications to execute accurate cuts and welds, maintaining equipment functionality, and troubleshooting any operational issues. Safety compliance and adherence to industry best practices are paramount to protect both personnel and equipment. Ultimately, the Plasma Operator helps drive product excellence and supports the overall manufacturing goals through skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience operating plasma cutting and welding equipment in a manufacturing setting.
  • Basic understanding of metal fabrication processes and safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in plasma cutting or welding technology.
  • Experience with CNC plasma cutting machines.
  • Familiarity with durable goods manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on plasma equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate plasma cutting and welding machinery according to production specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine cutting and welding requirements.
  • Monitor equipment performance and conduct routine maintenance to ensure optimal operation and prevent downtime.
  • Inspect finished products for quality assurance, making adjustments as necessary to meet tolerance and finish standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety protocols and reporting any hazards or malfunctions promptly.
