Job Summary

The Vehicle Polishing Technician is responsible for performing high-quality exterior polishing and detailing work on vehicles during the PDI or Bodyshop process. The role ensures that all vehicles are delivered with a spotless and glossy finish, free from paint imperfections, swirl marks, or surface contaminants, in accordance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Carry out polishing, compounding, waxing, and surface finishing of vehicles to achieve showroom-quality appearance.

· Identify paint surface defects such as scratches, oxidation, or overspray and correct them using appropriate methods.

· Operate polishing machines, pads, and compounds safely and effectively.

· Apply protective coatings, sealants, and waxes based on job card instructions.

· Inspect finished vehicles for quality, ensuring surfaces are smooth, shiny, and uniform.

· Clean and prepare vehicles before delivery, including removal of dust, residues, and fingerprints.

· Maintain polishing tools, pads, and materials in proper condition.

· Coordinate with PDI and Bodyshop teams to ensure timely delivery of vehicles.

· Report any paint defects requiring rectification to the PDI Manager or Bodyshop Painter.

· Follow all safety protocols and maintain cleanliness in the polishing area.

Skills & Competencies

· Good knowledge of automotive paint types, polishing materials, and surface correction techniques.

· Skilled in using rotary and orbital polishers with appropriate compounds and pads.

· Strong attention to detail and finish quality.

· Ability to identify paint defects and select correct polishing methods.

· Team player with a proactive and disciplined approach.

· Physical stamina and ability to work under workshop conditions.

Qualifications & Experience

· Minimum education: 10th grade pass or equivalent.

· Minimum 2 years of experience in vehicle polishing, detailing, or paint correction (PDI or Bodyshop preferred).

· Familiarity with polishing products such as 3M, Meguiar’s, or similar brands preferred.

Working Conditions

Workshop or PDI environment with exposure to dust, polishing compounds, and chemical cleaners.
Standard working hours with flexibility during peak vehicle delivery periods.
