About Larchmont Yacht Club

Founded in 1880, Larchmont Yacht Club is one of the most respected private yacht clubs in the United States. Located on an 11-acre waterfront campus along Long Island Sound, just 16 miles from New York City, the Club is known for its vibrant summer culture, family programming, and welcoming community atmosphere.

During the summer season, the pool complex becomes one of the most active areas of the Club. Families gather daily to swim, relax, and enjoy time with friends overlooking the water. The pool area also connects directly with the Beach Grill and waterfront programs, making it a lively hub throughout the day.

The Pool House plays an important role in this experience. It is the first stop for members and guests arriving at the pool and helps keep operations organized, welcoming, and running smoothly.

Position Summary

The Pool House Attendant serves as the primary point of contact for members and guests arriving at the Club’s pool facilities. This position focuses on welcoming members, managing check-ins, assisting with locker and merchandise needs, and helping maintain a clean and organized pool entrance.

Pool House Attendants help create a friendly and efficient arrival experience while ensuring that club policies are followed and members have the information they need to enjoy their day.

This role is well suited for high school and college students who enjoy interacting with people, working in a social environment, and gaining experience in hospitality and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Member Welcome and Check-In

  • Greet members and guests warmly as they arrive at the pool
  • Manage member and guest check-in using the club’s computer system
  • Confirm member identification and ensure profiles are properly maintained in the system
  • Process guest fees and communicate updates to the appropriate departments

Member Assistance

  • Provide helpful information about pool hours, programs, and amenities
  • Assist members with locker access and pool merchandise purchases
  • Answer questions and help direct members to the appropriate areas of the facility

Pool House Operations

  • Maintain an organized and welcoming entrance area
  • Ensure members follow club policies related to pool access and facility guidelines
  • Monitor locker areas and report any maintenance or cleanliness issues
  • Secure equipment and lock cabinets at the end of each shift

Facility Support

  • Communicate any facility concerns or service needs to the appropriate supervisor
  • Help maintain a clean and orderly environment throughout the Pool House area
  • Work cooperatively with lifeguards, supervisors, and other seasonal staff

Ideal Background

Qualifications

  • Must be a high school junior or older
  • Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable interacting with members and guests
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Dependable with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to learn computer check-in systems and basic administrative tasks
  • Willingness to follow club policies and maintain professional standards

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to bend and lift up to 20 pounds when needed
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in warm summer conditions
