Postdoctoral Fellow, Paediatrics & Child Health -MC - (2500035A)

Introduction:

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for designing and conducting cutting-edge research using various techniques commonly applied in the field of research, while also ensuring the smooth execution and management of the entire project independently with minimal supervision from the PI or Co-PI. Specific responsibilities will be to:

  • assist senior faculty in conducting, managing and planning research project by determining theoretical
  • conduct experiments devise instrumentation and techniques to record and collect test results
  • correlate data compiled in research and interpret the results
  • develop new concepts, methods and Techniques to solve scientific problems
  • carry out literature survey, data searching and retrieval, utilizing a variety of techniques and technologies
  • contribute directly to development of a research strategy for on-going research projects
  • compile information, data & practice examples for publications
  • prepare quantitative and qualitative analysis of data.
  • prepare write-up of the results, manuscripts of paper presentation and research proposals
  • raise Purchase Requisition of required items and animals used for research and keep track record of requisitions.
  • provide training to the study staff as per the protocols and guidelines of study;
  • ensure the completeness, proper filings, and archiving of the CRFs;
  • develop and implement QA QC plan with documentation and reporting
  • contribute to and writing research findings for publications, papers, presentations, grants, and other documents
  • prepare and compile of study progress report;
  • collaborate with the Data Manager and prepare monthly project reports
  • present the study results as per the requirement
  • familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures
  • participate in the conduct introductory and advanced workshops for capacity building with the supervisor
  • ensure quality control and maintain good working relationship with staff, community, collaborators, and stakeholders.

Requirements:

You should have:

  • Ph.D. focusing on Parasitology and or Neonatology.
  • preferably with additional certification and knowledge of Good Clinical Practices
  • experience in managing research projects or clinical trials, data analysis and report writing or exposure to these during training
  • ability to work and lead a team and participate in journal clubs
  • excellent scientific writing ability
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • willingness to mentor or supervise undergraduate and post graduate students
  • project management skills
  • experience in representing the institution in national and international conferences.
