Position Description
Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Healthcare and Quantitative Research:
The Center for Healthy and Durable Transportation (CHDT), housed in the Department of Health Informatics and Information Management at Texas State University and supported by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s University Transportation Center (UTC) program, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position.
The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Tiankai Wang on federally funded transportation–health research projects, as well as other sponsored grants, with a strong focus on quantitative methodologies. This is a full-time position with an initial 12-month appointment, renewable based on performance and funding availability.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research on transportation and healthcare-related topics.
  • Lead and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Analyze large-scale datasets using STATA and Python.
  • Contribute to grant applications and research reporting requirements.
  • Present research findings at national conferences and workshops.

Required Qualifications
  • PhD in healthcare, public health, health services research, economics, sociology, data science, or a related field.
  • Strong record of academic writing, including peer-reviewed publications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative research methods.
  • Proficiency in STATA and Python.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis.
  • Prior involvement in grant writing and proposal development.
  • Evidence of successful interdisciplinary collaboration.
