Process Design Engineer – Job Description
Location: Saudi Arabia

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Design Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of industrial processes for oil & gas or petrochemical projects in Saudi Arabia. The candidate will be responsible for preparing process design documents, simulations, and ensuring compliance with international engineering standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare process design documents including PFDs, P&IDs, process calculations, and design reports.
- Perform process simulations using software such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or PRO/II.
- Conduct heat and material balance calculations.
- Size and specify process equipment such as heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, separators, and reactors.
- Support preparation of process datasheets and equipment specifications.
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, and safety reviews.
- Coordinate with mechanical, instrumentation, piping, and electrical engineering teams during project execution.
- Ensure designs comply with international standards (API, ASME, ISO) and Saudi Aramco engineering standards where applicable.
- Review vendor documents and technical proposals.
- Provide technical support during commissioning and start-up of facilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
- 8–10 years of experience in process engineering/design within oil & gas, refinery, or petrochemical projects.
- Experience in FEED and Detailed Engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS / Aspen Plus).
- Familiarity with Saudi Aramco standards is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of process safety and risk assessments
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to manage multiple engineering deliverables and deadlines
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with Saudi Aramco / SABIC / major EPC contractors
- Experience in gas processing, refinery, or petrochemical plants
