Eramet Marietta, Inc. is a metallurgical manufacturing facility located in Marietta, Ohio. A subsidiary of Eramet Group, a metals and mining company based in Paris, France, Eramet Marietta, Inc. has roots in the Mid-Ohio Valley dating back to the early 1950’s.

Located on a site that was originally built as part of a vast industrial facility owned by Union Carbide, Eramet Marietta is only one of a very few manganese manufacturers currently operating in the United States. The company prides itself on producing high quality products, advancing operational and environmental technologies and always working safely first.

Main Purpose of the Position

This position is accountable for ensuing technical control over assigned production unit, and assisting in development and implementation of plans and programs which contribute to technical activities related to ferroalloys operation

Major Challenges Faced/Points of Complexity

Production units are complex, multivariate processes that are challenging to maintain optimal performance. There are situations, sometime beyond our control, that have negative impacts on operations, but it is the duty of the Process Engineer to work through these issues in an effort to maintain a stable, productive operation.

Major Responsibilities/Outputs

  • Direct the day-to-day technical operation of production units as specified by the Manager of Process Control & Technology Development.
  • Maintain awareness of high carbon ferromanganese safety standards and incorporate same into technical activities.
  • Plan and implement technical activities relating to production unit operations in co-ordination with plant senior staff technical personnel.
  • Monitor metallurgical-related cost performance of assigned production units, understand deviations, and take corrective action where appropriate.
  • As required, assist in development of budgets and forecasts for assigned production units.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for assigned production units and ensure procedures are assessed and updated annually.
  • Environmental compliance of assigned production units is maintained.
  • Maintain quality procedures in keeping with the Marietta quality assurance manual.
  • Manage inventory of consumables.
  • As required, train operating personnel in technical areas related to assigned production units.
  • Function as weekend duty leader on assigned weeks.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with counterparts in the Mn Brance (Norway, France, China, Gabon).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical, Metallurgical or Materials Science Engineering.
  • Prefer 2-years of process engineering experience in heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgical principles.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and process modeling tools (Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of ISO certification systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Hands-on, collaborative working style.
  • Attention to detail and process discipline.
