Job Title: Procurement Engineer

Position Summary
This position is responsible for the documentation, cost analysis, and vendor/supplier engagement related to a range of commodities used across the clients’ hardware product portfolio.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow established Procurement Management processes (intake, RFQ, evaluation, award, documentation) and maintain required artifacts in designated repositories
- Execute day-to-day procurement support within assigned categories
- Regularly align with management on priorities, deliverables, and timelines
- Enable management with vendor negotiation recommendations and highlighted contract discrepancies requiring legal/business approval
- Draft supplier comparisons and recommendations that align with supplier strategy and cost objectives
- Validate and reconcile part master/BOM discrepancies
- Coordinate with engineering, supply chain, and procurement teams to process commodity code requests (new or change)
- Assess and provide recommendations to improve related SOPs and tools
- Produce assigned commodity/category analysis reports
- Summarize vendor spend, pricing, capacity, lead time, risk, and industry/market trends
- Build and update supply chain and financial models with assumptions to support sourcing decisions
- Draft a year-over-year cost roadmap with assumptions, opportunities, and an implementation tracker
- Collaborate with R&D teams to develop and maintain sourcing packages (supplier longlist/shortlist, specifications, capability summaries, RFQ/quote packages, and qualification requirements)
- Develop risk assessments including identification, drivers, probabilities, impact, and mitigation recommendations
- Draft biweekly report on issue progress, risks, and decisions needed
- Occasionally work 40+ hours in a week to meet certain team milestones
- Perform other duties as needed
Education and Credential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Engineering Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Eligible to work in the US without RLA sponsorship for employment visa status
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a procurement engineer/commodity manager role
- Responsible for assigned commodity categories
- Direct correspondence with vendors/suppliers
- Worked on a cross-functional team including R&D and manufacturing/operations engineers
- Developed report templates and dashboards for internal customers
- Maintained part/BOM databases for assigned commodities
- Preferred experience
- Specified commodity tool (e.g., EPM) selection and implementation
Skills Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
- High proficiency using productivity software such as M365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams and SharePoint)
- Ability to use agile/scrum project/program management principles and methodologies to consistently meet task deadlines, triage changing priorities, and track issues to resolution
- Ability to collaborate across diverse teams with a customer service mindset
