Procurement Officer

Job Description:

To handle end-to-end procurement operations for all materials, equipment, and subcontract services related to construction and interior fit-out projects. The role requires strong negotiation skills, vendor management, technical evaluation capabilities, and an in-depth understanding of construction materials and methods. The ideal candidate will have experience in a contracting company and be capable of ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality procurement in alignment with project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Operations:

  • Prepare and float RFQs to vendors/suppliers/subcontractors based on project BOQs and drawings.
  • Conduct technical and commercial evaluation of quotations.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings and timely delivery.
  • Issue purchase orders and subcontract agreements in coordination with management.

Vendor Management:

  • Develop and maintain a strong vendor database for fit-out materials, MEP items, finishing works, joinery, etc.
  • Evaluate supplier performance in terms of quality, reliability, and compliance.

Coordination & Communication:

  • Coordinate closely with Project Engineers, Site Team, and Design Team to ensure material specifications and lead times are met.
  • Provide weekly procurement status reports to the General Manager or Managing Partner

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Ensure all procurement processes follow company policy and project-specific requirements.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, delivery notes, and material approvals.

Site & Logistics Coordination:

  • Follow up on timely deliveries to site.
  • Coordinate with storekeepers and site supervisors for material receiving and verification.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil / mechanical engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 4–6 years’ experience in procurement within a contracting or fit-out company in the UAE.
  • Sound knowledge of construction and fit-out materials, suppliers, and subcontracting norms in the UAE.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with ERP systems is an advantage.
  • UAE Driving License is preferred.
