Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Product Buyer with expertise in food items, beverages (including beer and liquor), and perishable products (meats). The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring high-quality products from suppliers across the USA and international markets. This role requires strong vendor management skills, deep market knowledge, and the ability to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining quality, compliance, and timely delivery.
Experience Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in procurement or buying, with specific focus on dry food, perishables, beer, and liquor.
- Strong knowledge of domestic and global sourcing practices.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
- Familiarity with food safety standards, alcohol import/export regulations, and cold chain logistics.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office and procurement software.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English or other languages) strongly preferred.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Food & Beverage Management, or related field (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Source and procure food products (dry goods, frozen, fresh, and other perishables) along with beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages from domestic and international suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and purchasing terms to maximize value and profitability.
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships with breweries, distilleries, brokers, distributors, growers, and producers.
- Monitor market trends, product availability, consumer demand, and seasonal shifts to anticipate needs.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, alcohol regulations, import/export requirements, and company policies.
- Partner with logistics and operations to manage cold chain handling, shipping, and timely product delivery.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and ensure adherence to quality and reliability standards.
- Research and recommend new products to diversify and expand the company’s portfolio.
- Maintain accurate purchasing data, reports, and forecasts for planning purposes.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
