Product Design & Development Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:

Design and develop industrial products suitable for additive manufacturing and related processes, ensuring technical feasibility, manufacturability, and compliance with SINDAN standards, and driving design and process improvements to move products from NPI to stable serial production.

Scope of Job:

This role covers sales activities across assigned territories within the UAE, ensuring strong customer relationships, effective product presentations, and full understanding of Sindan’s digital dental workflow to support clients with proper onboarding and utilization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Design & Development

• Develop concepts, detailed 3D models, and drawings for new and existing products optimised for AM and machining.

• Prepare print-ready files (stock, supports, build validation) and update manufacturing documentation (MPS, routings, travellers).

Project Execution & AM Integration

• Perform feasibility studies, risk assessments, and validation testing (prototypes, coupons, functional trials).

• Initiate and oversee AM builds, coordinate post-processing and inspections, and hand over to production.

• Maintain full project records (design files, BOMs, MPS, QC reports, images) and ensure material and part traceability.

Documentation, ERP & Process Control

• Create/maintain manufacturing routings and data in ERP; monitor actual vs estimated cost and highlight gaps.

• Log non-conformities, deviations, and incidents in ERP; support disposition and corrective actions.

Design & Manufacturing Process Improvement (NPI → Serial Production)

• Work with Production and Quality to refine designs, tolerances, build strategies, and routings for repeatable high-yield production.

• Identify and implement improvements to reduce print time, scrap, and rework, and to standardise best practices for serial builds.

Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement

• Submit finished parts to QC; support incoming/final inspections and defect analysis.

• Maintain 5S, follow safety instructions, and report incidents and near misses.

• Propose enhancements to design-for-AM, design-for-manufacture, and documentation workflows

COMMUNICATIONS AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Internal:

• Collaborates with Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, HSE, and Maintenance to ensure designs are manufacturable, safe, and cost-effective.

• Coordinates with R&D and Project Management through concept, prototyping, and validation stages.

External:

• Liaises with suppliers, OEMs, and test laboratories for materials, machine support, and validation.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.

Experience:

• Minimum 2+ years in product design and development in an industrial/manufacturing environment, preferably with metal or polymer AM exposure.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• Proficient in CAD/3D tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and AM build-prep (e.g. Magics, Netfabb)

• Knowledge of engineering standards, materials selection, DfM/DfAM, and validation methods.

WORK CONDITION:

Physical Effort

• Low; primarily desk-based work with occasional light physical activity during testing or site visits.

Work Environment

• Office-based with occasional exposure to laboratories, workshops, or manufacturing areas

Pay: AED15,000.00 - AED20,000.00 per month
