Role Overview

The Product Designer will be responsible for designing new furniture collections, enhancing existing products, and ensuring that all designs align with brand identity, manufacturing capabilities, market trends, and customer expectations. This role requires creativity, technical proficiency, and a strong understanding of furniture construction and materials.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Design & Development

• Conceptualize and design new furniture products for various categories (living, bedroom, dining, storage, etc.).
• Create detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications for production.
• Develop innovative, functional, and aesthetically appealing designs based on market trends and customer insights.
• Modify and improve existing designs to enhance quality, functionality, or cost efficiency.

Prototyping & Manufacturing Coordination

• Work closely with production, carpentry, and engineering teams to ensure design feasibility.
• Oversee prototyping stages and provide design input during production.
• Ensure final products meet design standards, ergonomics, durability, and brand guidelines.
• Select appropriate materials, finishes, hardware, and fittings for each product.

Research & Innovation

• Conduct market research to understand new styles, materials, and furniture technologies.
• Benchmark competitor designs and global trends to support product innovation.
• Explore sustainable materials and cost-effective manufacturing solutions.

Documentation & Presentation

• Prepare technical drawings, presentations, and mood boards for internal reviews and client approvals.
• Document product dimensions, material specifications, and assembly instructions.
• Maintain an organized library of design files, material samples, and references.

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to support product launches.
• Provide design insights for catalog shoots, showroom layouts, and brand visual identity.
• Ensure clear communication with all departments involved in the product lifecycle.

Skills & QualificationsEducation

• Bachelor’s degree in Furniture Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or related fields.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, 3ds Max, Rhino, or similar design software.
• Strong understanding of woodworking techniques, joinery, ergonomics, and furniture construction.
• Ability to create accurate technical drawings and realistic 3D renderings.
• Knowledge of materials, finishes, fabrics, and hardware used in furniture manufacturing.
