Scottsdale, United States

Company Overview

MFUSED is more than a cannabis company — we are a collective of innovators, creators, and builders who believe in the power of cannabis to inspire new experiences and improve lives. Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona and proudly founded in Seattle, Washington, we have grown from a passionate local startup into one of the most recognized cannabis brands in the country. At MFUSED, creativity thrives alongside discipline. We challenge ourselves to think boldly, experiment fearlessly, and then transform those ideas into products that meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. Our team members don’t just follow trends — they set them. Joining MFUSED means joining a workplace where curiosity, collaboration, and innovation are celebrated every day, and where every role directly contributes to products enjoyed by thousands of people.

The Role

The Product Developer is both a creator and an architect of detail. This position blends artistry and science, developing product concepts and writing recipes that can be scaled into commercialization processes. Acting as the “chef of the cannabis world,” the Product Developer experiments with consumable and inhalable products, carefully documenting methods and outcomes to ensure consistency, compliance, and quality.

This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional partners including Compliance, Quality Assurance, Finance, Operations, and other product leaders. You will play a key role in translating ideas into market-ready products, ensuring they are not only innovative but also efficient, cost-effective, and fully compliant. The ideal candidate thrives on hands-on creation while staying organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to bring ideas to life from the lab to the shelf.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop new cannabis products, formulations, and hardware solutions, from concept to commercialization.
  • Create, test, and document recipes for consumable and inhalable products, ensuring scalability and repeatability.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations (seeing, touching, tasting, smelling) to assess consistency, flavor, and product quality.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Quality teams to ensure products meet state regulations and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate COGS documentation and partner with Finance and Supply Chain on cost analysis and forecasting.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments on hardware, providing technical input on performance and reliability.
  • Implement stability testing protocols to confirm shelf life and product integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams — Product Management, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain — to align projects with business goals and launch timelines.
  • Proactively identify process improvements, share ideas, and drive efficiencies in product development.
  • Present project updates, risks, and technical findings to stakeholders for go/no-go decisions.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, life sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience in product development, formulation, or R&D may substitute for formal education.
  • 3+ years of experience in R&D, product formulation, or product development in cannabis, consumer packaged goods (CPG), pharma, or other regulated industry.
  • Experience creating detailed recipes or formulations that can be scaled to commercial production.
  • Strong technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a balance of creativity and discipline.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Asana, SharePoint) preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass state-required background checks.
  • May be required to obtain certifications or licenses within the state of employment and must be able to pass and maintain them.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • This is an onsite role based in Scottsdale, Arizona; regular presence in lab and production environments is required.
  • Must be able to fully engage senses — see, touch, taste, and smell — when developing cannabis products.
  • Work involves exposure to cannabis and cannabis-derived materials.
  • Requires repetitive tasks such as mixing, measuring, weighing, recording data, and operating lab equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. and spend extended periods standing or moving during development activities.
  • Ability to work with delicate ingredients and hardware components, requiring precision and fine motor skills.
  • Must balance creativity with compliance and safety in all processes.
  • Fast-paced, start-up style work environment requiring adaptability, flexibility, and attention to detail.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
