OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE

Own the product vision and roadmap for 75F's embedded hardware and firmware platforms

Define hardware and firmware specs for edge devices, controllers, and environmental sensors
-
Collaborate with engineering on board design, schematic reviews, prototyping, and testing
-
Drive architectural alignment between firmware stack and hardware capabilities
-
Ensure regulatory compliance (UL, CE, FCC) and industry protocol adherence (BACnet, Modbus, Zigbee, LoRa, etc.)
-
Balance performance, power, reliability, and cost in hardware/firmware decisions
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Define technical product requirements for control boards, IoT edge devices, and smart sensors

Oversee hardware design lifecycle: component selection, schematic/PCB reviews, EVT/DVT/PVT phases

Work with firmware teams on embedded development for control loops, device drivers, RTOS-based systems

Manage hardware-firmware integration planning including OTA update mechanisms and diagnostics
-
Own validation test plans for field environments—thermal, electrical, RF, and real-world use cases
-
Interface with external hardware design houses and manufacturing partners
-
Track bugs, reliability issues, and drive root cause analysis to closure across firmware and hardware
-
Collaborate with Product Marketing and Sales for technical documentation and value messaging

Lead competitive benchmarking of product hardware and embedded capabilities
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
-
4+ years of experience in product management or design for hardware or embedded systems
-
Deep understanding of PCB design, board bring-up, sensors, power systems, and microcontrollers
-
Hands-on experience with embedded firmware development and debugging (C/C++, RTOS, MCUs, SoCs)
-
Familiarity with HVAC and BMS control topologies and protocols (BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, Zigbee, BLE)
-
Experience with hardware validation tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, RF testers)
-
Strong grasp of embedded systems integration, diagnostics, bootloaders, OTA mechanisms

Proven ability to work closely with hardware/firmware teams and convert customer needs into product specs

Bachelor's or Master's in Electronics, Electrical, Embedded Systems, or related engineering fields
-
Excellent communication skills, documentation ability, and cross-functional stakeholder management
