Production Artist – Art Department

Designer Greetings is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Artist to join our Art Department. This is not an entry-level design role. We are looking for a seasoned production professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume print environment and understands the technical precision required for commercial print production.

This position is heavily prepress and production focused, requiring advanced technical execution, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage mechanical development from approved concept to final press-ready artwork. A strong design sensibility is essential, but the core of this role is production accuracy and technical expertise.

As a Production Artist at Designer Greetings, you will convert approved design files into flawless, print-ready mechanical artwork for greeting cards, gift wrap, signage, and specialty stationery products.

Typesetting is a critical function of this position. A sophisticated understanding of typography is required, including hand lettering and the ability to create, adjust, or refine type treatments to support the overall design intent.

We offer a hybrid work schedule following a structured in-house training period.

Core Qualifications:

• Advanced typographic and layout expertise
• Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• Proven experience preparing complex press-ready files according to detailed printer specifications
• Direct experience creating plates for specialty finishes including spot UV, glitter, foil stamping, die cutting, and embossing
• Ability to build accurate physical mock-ups that reflect final production outcomes
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume production environment
• Exceptional organizational discipline including file management, naming conventions, and archival structure

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a closely related field, or significant equivalent professional experience
• Minimum of 5–7 years of hands-on print production experience (commercial print required)
• Portfolio must clearly demonstrate technical production expertise, not concept-only design work
• Experience in greeting cards, stationery, packaging, or similar specialty print industries strongly preferred
