Production Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily production activities in the fabrication workshop.
  • Review fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and production schedules before commencing work.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, QA/QC, and Project teams to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Allocate manpower, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity.
  • Monitor fabrication processes including cutting, drilling, welding, fitting, assembly, and finishing.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency.
  • Verify material availability and coordinate with stores and procurement to prevent production delays.
  • Monitor production progress and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
  • Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable fabrication standards.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections and timely resolution of quality issues.
  • Support workshop supervisors and provide technical guidance during fabrication.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with company HSE policies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize production costs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, fabric shade structures, or heavy steel manufacturing.
  • Experience in workshop production planning and fabrication processes.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and production processes.
  • Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and GA drawings.
  • Knowledge of welding, cutting, fitting, assembly, and surface treatment processes.
  • Familiarity with Bills of Materials (BOM), Material Take-Offs (MTO), and production planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD; familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is an advantage.
