The Product Lead Liabilities will play a pivotal role in shaping HugoBank’s next-generation liability propositions, going beyond traditional deposit products to build digitally-led, value-creating financial experiences. The role will focus on designing innovative product offerings, bundled experiences, and ecosystem-led propositions that deepen engagement, improve financial wellbeing and add to long-term customer lifetime value.The incumbent will lead end-to-end development of scalable, compliant, and customer-centric propositions that strengthen HugoBank’s market positioning and contribute to sustainable business growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Product Proposition & Strategy

  • Own and evolve a dynamic product roadmap that balances innovation, customer value and business goals with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop a forward-looking product strategy covering deposits, savings, transactional accounts, and value-added propositions across retail and SME segments.
  • Design innovative, digitally-led savings and cash-management experiences that drive engagement, stickiness, and long-term customer value.
  • Align liability strategy with the Bank’s financial inclusion, growth, and balance-sheet objectives.

Product Development & Lifecycle Management

  • Lead end-to-end product development from ideation, business case creation, regulatory alignment, journey design, testing, launch, and continuous enhancement.
  • Translate ideas into structured PIDs/PRDs ensuring clear documentation for Technology and Dev teams.
  • Conduct ongoing competitive benchmarking and market analysis to identify opportunities, gaps, and innovation potential in the liability space.
  • Work with research and analytics teams to derive insights from customer behaviour, translating findings into product enhancements.

Process Optimization

  • Re-engineer end-to-end liability product processes to create frictionless, intuitive customer experiences across onboarding, account opening, deposits, savings, pots/pockets, and ongoing account management.
  • Drive digital-first process innovation, leveraging automation, AI-driven workflows, and intelligent orchestration to reduce turnaround times, minimize manual interventions, and improve operational resilience.
  • Design and embed progressive customer journeys enhance engagement and retention.
  • Continuously assess performance, identify bottlenecks, and introduce scalable enhancements that balance speed, compliance, risk controls, and superior UX.

Technical & Analytical Collaboration

  • Work closely with Technology, Data, Risk, and Operations teams to translate product strategy into robust requirements ensuring scalable, modular, and future-ready liability platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Data Team ( I.e. Analytics to build data-driven insights on customer behavior, deposit trends, liquidity patterns, and savings engagement to inform product evolution and personalization.
  • Define and oversee product parameterization within Core Banking and supporting platforms to ensure seamless execution, reliability, and control across journeys.

Risk, Compliance & Operations

  • Ensure liability propositions, pricing frameworks, customer journeys, and operational processes comply with SBP regulations, AML/CFT requirements, and consumer protection standards.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Operations functions to embed preventive controls, transaction monitoring safeguards, and customer trust features within liability products.
  • Proactively identify emerging regulatory shifts and operational risks, aligning product design with governance and operational excellence.
  • Balance innovation with prudence by designing liability solutions that are secure, compliant and future-ready.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead and influence cross-functional squads including Tech, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Operations, Data to design, launch, and scale liability propositions and features.
  • Drive alignment between product strategy, profitability objectives, and customer experience to ensure liability products are regulatory compliant, innovative, and commercially viable.
  • Act as the central point of accountability for product delivery, ensuring clear ownership, timely execution, and effective communication across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with senior leadership and governance forums to secure approvals, manage dependencies, and ensure strategic consistency across the bank’s liability portfolio.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Ideate and develop new liability propositions beyond traditional CA/SA, including savings innovations, goal-based products, liquidity optimization tools, embedded banking use-cases, and ecosystem partnerships.
  • Contribute to new business models and revenue streams, including fee-based offerings, subscription banking, bundled propositions, and cross-sell enablement with Lending, Payments, and Wealth products.
  • Assist in developing customer education and financial literacy initiatives, ensuring liability propositions support inclusion, trust-building, and responsible banking behavior.
  • Provide inputs for strategic presentations, Board/ExCo updates, and regulatory submissions, ensuring clarity, compliance, and product vision alignment.
  • Support marketing, growth, and lifecycle teams in designing campaigns, acquisition strategies, retention initiatives, and customer engagement journeys linked to liability products.
  • Participate in vendor engagements, evaluations, and partnership discussions, particularly where third-party platforms, fintech enablement, or technology capabilities support liability innovation.
  • Contribute to establishing a continuous improvement culture, identifying opportunities to enhance processes, digital journeys, UI/UX, and operational scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • Strong academic grounding in product management, financial services, or digital transformation is an advantage.
  • 6–8 years of experience in Branch Banking, Digital Banking or Fintech, with significant exposure to liability products or deposit-led propositions.
  • Proven experience in conceptualizing, launching, and scaling digital financial products (liabilities, savings, transactional banking, ecosystem financial services, or innovative value-store propositions).
  • Experience in working with technology, data, compliance, and operations teams to build scalable digital banking products.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within regulated financial environments, preferably with exposure to SBP regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with customer insights, portfolio management, and performance optimization of deposit or customer engagement products.
