The Virginia Fresh Match Program (VFM) is a token program that enables shoppers to use their SNAP EBT (formerly food stamps) benefits at participating farmers markets and receive up to $30 in "incentives" for additional, FREE, fresh fruits and vegetables, effectively doubling the value of SNAP. It helps customers by providing access to affordable fruits and vegetables, farmers by increasing their sales, and the community be a healthier, more welcoming place.

  • Completing SNAP EBT and VFM incentive transactions and distributing tokens to customers
  • Collecting tokens from vendors at the end of the market
  • Assisting with implementation of any additional VCFC food access and incentive programs
  • Acting as primary liaison between vendors and VCFC staff
  • Transporting, setting up and breaking down market tent/equipment on market day

After Market Reconciliation

  • Accurately counting market token bank and reconciling with daily transaction activity
  • Accurately counting and recording tokens turned in by vendors
  • Completing reconciliation reports in an online data tracking program or spreadsheet
  • Uploading reports, no later than 48-72 hours following the end of the market
  • Must have internet access, and be able to print, scan and email occasional documents

Required Skillsets for Successful Candidates

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong English proficiency
  • Basic bookkeeping skills
  • Must be able to safely lift and carry 25-50 pounds short distances
  • A passion for fresh, local food and community-based work
