We are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Shipyard to oversee all aspects of drydock operations, including vessel repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in shipyard management, marine engineering, and project execution, with a proven track record of delivering drydock projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all drydock activities, including hull inspections, steel repairs, propulsion overhauls, and painting.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure efficient drydock operations.
- Liaise with shipowners, classification societies, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with technical specifications and regulatory requirements (ABS, DNV, LR, etc.).
- Oversee procurement, logistics, and manpower allocation for drydock projects.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols in compliance with OSHA, SOLAS, and ISM standards.
- Monitor quality control and ensure work is performed to industry and client standards.
- Prepare progress reports, cost analyses, and post-drydock evaluations for stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to minimize downtime.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in ship repair, drydock management, or marine project execution.
- Proven track record managing large-scale drydock projects (tankers, bulk carriers, offshore vessels, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of hull blasting/painting, machinery overhauls, and structural repairs.
- Familiarity with shipyard software (Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Shipyard Management Systems).
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English (additional languages a plus).
Preferred Certifications:
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent.
- ISM/ISPS Auditor certification.
- NACE/SSPC coating inspector certification.
