JOB SUMMARY
We are looking to hire a project accountant to join our fast-paced environment and oversee the accounting functions for multiple assets within our JMA Ventures LLC portfolio. This candidate will need to possess the skills to implementing the company’s accounting processes, asset level treasury management, cash forecasting as well as provide support with various data analytics requests. A successful candidate will have the proven capabilities to help coordinate close activities up to and including internal and external reporting and be able to drive process improvements to help strengthen the company’s internal controls and overall accounting function. The Project accountant will be a member of the corporate accounting team and will need to be self-driven and motivated. The ideal candidate will have had several years of accounting experience, a willingness to learn, ability to close asset’s books consistently and on time, and be a great communicator.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in all aspects of the monthly financial close process on a GAAP basis.
- Ensure account reconciliations and analyses are completed for all balance sheet accounts
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies
- Prepare monthly financial reviews and assist in management's discussion and analysis
- Work with the management team to identify and analyze key operating metrics, then prepare these reports in a timely and accurate manner
- Support the maintenance of general ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.
- Assists in the development and implementation of policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
- Collaborate with tax advisors and provide support for federal & state tax returns (both income and premium taxes)
- Lead and support ad hoc projects as required
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, with an emphasis in construction job cost accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Business Central 365, QuickBooks, Dynamics).
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Familiarity with and recent use of Northspyre (preferred), Procore, CMiC or similar leading construction accounting and project management software systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint required.
- Familiar with CSI codes, construction WIP schedules, and job cost accounting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to build a positive team spirit and treat others with respect.
- Real Estate / Hospitality / Resort Experience preferred
