Gavial is looking for a Project Planner to join our team in Santa Maria, CA. The Project Planner will assist in planning the efficient and timely procurement of materials and the creation of work order packages in support of project-specific production requirements. This role involves creating bills of materials, processing material requests, generating production methods, and building work order packages for production, refurbishment and repair work. This role involves ongoing interface with project management, purchasing and quality assurance.

Project Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates new item masters in Gavial's ERP system.
  • Creates production bills of materials in Gavial's ERP system based on drawings and engineering parts lists.
  • Generates material requests (MR's) based on project sales order demand, bills of materials, and drawing requirements.
  • Coordinates with purchasing to ensure that material requests are translated into purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with purchasing to track shipments and resolve delays.
  • Tracks material status on a project-by-project basis to ensure timely delivery and communicates this status to project management.
  • Creates production methods in Gavial's ERP system based on information established in quotes provided to Gavial's customers.
  • Releases new work orders in Gavial's ERP system based on sales order requirements.
  • Generates work order packages (including complete technical data packages) in accordance with Gavial's production control procedures, in support of production of new-build assemblies, refurbishments and repairs.
  • Validates and ensures that the latest configuration and effectivity are maintained in work order packages throughout the manufacturing cycle.
  • Resolves discrepancies arising from incorrect paperwork or other related problems.

Experience/Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree or technical training in logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in production and/or material planning or similar role in a manufacturing environment.

Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and proven capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in analyzing practical challenges and navigating complex scenarios with limited standardization. Able to interpret diverse instructions-whether written, verbal, diagrammatic, or schedule-based-with precision.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding technical documentation, including safety protocols, operating procedures, maintenance guides, and process manuals.
  • Capable of drafting clear, concise reports and correspondence. Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Solid mathematical aptitude, including the ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and geometric measurements. Familiar with basic algebra and geometry concepts.
  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing fundamentals, including raw materials, production workflows, quality control, cost optimization, and distribution strategies.
  • Experienced in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills and a meticulous approach to task execution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), internet applications, inventory management systems, and ERP platforms.
