Project Planner

Job Purpose

Support the Monitoring & Work Performance (MWP) function by analyzing project data, monitoring the full project and portfolio lifecycle, and providing management with actionable insights for decision making. Responsible for developing KPIs, dashboards, reports, and analytical tools that ensure the MATAR project portfolio is effectively

monitored, controlled, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Analytical

 Conduct in depth data analysis to identify trends, risks, issues, and performance insights across projects,

programs, and the overall portfolio.

 Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualization tools that provide clear, actionable information to management and stakeholders.

 Define, track, and report KPIs and metrics to evaluate business and project performance.

 Monitor project timelines, cost tracking, budgeting, and cash flow, highlighting underperformance and recommending corrective actions.

 Perform statistical analyses on portfolio data and optimize data collection systems to improve efficiency and data quality.

 Maintain and update portfolio databases, ensuring accuracy of CAPEX dashboard information.

 Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend enhancements to monitoring tools,

systems, and methodologies.

 Stay updated on emerging technologies, reporting tools, and industry trends related to project monitoring and planning.

Portfolio & Performance Management

 Evaluate and categorize the MWP portfolio in alignment with business objectives and budgeting requirements.

 Track implementation of corrective actions to keep programs and projects on schedule and within approved parameters.

 Ensure all monitoring and control tools remain fitforpurpose and aligned with the department’s monitoring strategy.

 Engage with stakeholders regularly to gather accurate project data and ensure reporting completeness.

Communication & Coordination

 Liaise with project teams and other departments to ensure seamless data flow and accurate reporting.

 Communicate underperformance, root cause findings, and mitigation recommendations to relevant stakeholders.

 Provide continuous reporting support to Management for informed and strategic decision making.

Other Duties

 Support departmental initiatives and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Head of Department.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Qualifications

Essential:

 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Statistics, Business Analytics, or related field.

Preferred:

 Certification or training in project planning, data analytics, project controls, or portfolio management.

Experience

Essential:

 Minimum 5–7 years of experience in project planning, data analysis, project controls, or

portfolio/performance management.

Preferred:

 Experience with engineering or construction project portfolios.

 Proven ability to analyze complex datasets and develop performance dashboards.

JobSpecific Skills

 Strong analytical and statistical skills for identifying trends, anomalies, and performance deviations.

 Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), dashboards, and reporting systems.

 Ability to develop KPIs and performance metrics for projects and portfolios.

 Experience in cost and schedule monitoring, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.

 Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

 Ability to work in highpressure environments, handle multiple priorities, and deliver accurate outputs.

 Strong computer and database management skills.
