Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide expert mental health services, including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapy to diverse patient populations. Your expertise will help improve mental health outcomes by delivering personalized, evidence-based care across outpatient and inpatient settings. Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients of all ages, including children, geriatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, ensuring safe and effective use aligned with clinical guidelines.
  • Provide psychotherapy sessions utilizing evidence-based modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychopharmacology strategies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in clinical research projects related to behavioral health or psychiatric treatments to advance evidence-based practices.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, medication administration, lifestyle modifications, and community resources.

Qualifications

  • Valid state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or Cerner; telehealth experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, medication management protocols, and diagnostic evaluation tools like ICD-10 coding.
  • Experience in acute care settings such as hospitals, emergency rooms, or Level I Trauma Centers is preferred.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health treatments including trauma-informed care, dementia care, hospice & palliative medicine, and memory care.
