Location: Los Angeles (hybrid/remote; regular in-office attendance)

About the Role and Objectives:
Leadership role, international team. Management of ADI’s communications strategy, public image, brand management for ADI US, Latin America and ADI Wildlife Sanctuary, South Africa:

  • Communications planning and development of ongoing media relations. Campaign launches, events, media releases, collateral, and social.
  • Monitoring news and social media outlets, developing rapid-response communications; pitching stories.
  • Responding to inquiries from print, radio, TV and social media.
  • Positioning spokespersons in media.
  • Organize and promote events, campaign launches, and celebrity support.
  • Drafting and editing copy – press releases, quotes, visuals, blog posts, op-eds, websites, and editing copy drafted by others.
  • Publications: schedules, planning; content overview; editing; visuals; organizes production.
  • Websites: (shared) management, upgrading, in collaboration with social media, campaigns and development leads.
  • Social Media: supports social media team with planning, content, and editing as needed.
  • Supports campaigns and development teams with input on e-alerts, calls to action, marketing, and supporter engagement, as needed.

Who should apply:
You have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in campaigns and issue advocacy, either professional or voluntary achievements. You are ready to take on both US and international campaigns, and want to lead and support an international team, working across continents and time zones.

Required Skills:

  • Educated to degree level: communications, media, or relevant experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite, Canva and/or other graphics programs, digital, online research services (ChatGPT is not permitted for writing).
  • Excellent English and a first-class communicator, a committed animal rights advocate. You understand the importance of the consistent public voice – maintaining core policies and messaging.
  • You can demonstrate a grasp of ADI campaigns and values as well as general animal rights, wildlife, and environmental protection issues.
  • Good leadership skills for an international team: you are organized, creative, resourceful; a planner, you can delivery campaign objectives.
  • You understand and can manage the daily schedule for the 24/7 media and social media environment, staff rotas, provision for weekends and time off.
  • You are reliable and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Plant-based lifestyle preferred.

Terms:
Salary $80-90,000/year (dependent on experience/qualifications).
Hybrid: remote+ LA office. Permanent, full time, exempt, at-will.
