We are looking for a seasoned Technical Purchaser to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical knowledge of marine stores (Deck, Engine, Cabin, and Electrical) and has a proven track record of sourcing high-quality ship supplies within strict timeframes in the UAE market.
Key Responsibilities
- Sourcing & Procurement:
- Execute end-to-end procurement for technical marine stores (Engine, Deck, Electrical, Safety, and Cabin stores).
- Source quotations from local UAE and international suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and availability.
- Identify and verify items using IMPA and ISSA codes to ensure 100% technical accuracy.
- Technical Evaluation:
- Review vessel requisitions and technical drawings to verify part numbers, specifications, and compatibility.
- Suggest technical equivalents or alternatives when original parts are obsolete or unavailable.
- Vendor Management:
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery lead times with suppliers.
- Maintain and expand a database of reliable suppliers, specialist workshops, and fabricators in the UAE.
- Logistics & Coordination:
- Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure "Just-In-Time" delivery to vessels at ports
- Ensure all procured goods meet marine industry standards and certifications (e.g., SOLAS, class certificates).
- Documentation:
- Process Purchase Orders (POs) and handle discrepancies in invoices or delivery notes.
- Manage customs documentation requirements for imported ship spares.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of dedicated experience in Technical Purchasing within a Ship Chandelling.
- Technical Knowledge: Mastery of IMPA / ISSA catalogs is non-negotiable. Must have strong knowledge of engine spares, valves, pipes, fittings, and navigational equipment.
- Local Knowledge: Strong existing network of suppliers and workshops within the UAE maritime sector.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a relevant marine qualification is preferred.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel.
- Language: Excellent command of English (written and verbal) is mandatory
