Job Summary:
The Purchasing/Central Supply Assistant will assist the Director to receive and maintain sufficient inventory. The assistant will fill daily orders utilizing the electronic material management system and ensure inventory control.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· No supervisory responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Fills daily department orders of stock and non-stock items
· Check prices as needed
· Creates purchase orders
· Assists with year-end inventory
· Run month end and review reports with Director
· Monitor inventory for expired items
· Assists Director with purchasing local items
· Demonstrates proper attitude and professionalism when communicating with vendors, delivery personnel, patients or hospital visitors
· Responsible for documenting UPS and FED EX deliveries
· Collects sharps containers on a regular schedule
· Checks stocking and temperature of fluid warmer
· Back up courier
· Performs pickups and deliveries
· Performs other duties as required
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Must have the ability to remain current on fire, safety and exposure control plans
· Basic typing, computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, and internet searches
· Communication, telephone and adding machine required
· Organization skills
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· At least one year of purchasing or materials management experience preferred or demonstrated ability for ordering merchandise and purchase orders.

Union General Hospital risk category of experiencing blood/body fluid exposure during the performance of their job duties - LOW
Medium (lifting 50 lbs max with frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs)
