Due to the available budget allocated for this position, the hiring rate will not exceed $26.11 per hour.
Why does the job exist?

This position is responsible for the centralized procurement of goods and services for the agency. Position will be responsible for specialized professional and technical service contracts.
How does it get done?

  • Prepare and complete Internal Purchasing Requests (IPRs) for the facility and reviews incoming IPRs from other facility departments for accuracy, prior to creating and updating purchase orders in the SHARE Financial system.
  • Follow the State Procurement Code in all purchasing activities to make sure state law is followed at all times
  • Initiate professional phone calls and/or emails to vendors to procure bids and/or contracts, with follow-up as needed
  • Review purchase order status daily to ensure timely processing through approval
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining financial records related to procurement or contract services, and coordinates purchasing activities with state and federal agencies and private vendors
  • Review of accounting reports, contracts, and agreements for compliance with state and federal regulations

Minimum Qualification

High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, purchasing, procurement, and/or warehouse clerking. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. May be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
