Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Cairo, Egypt, for a Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for managing the procurement of pharmaceutical products, developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of products, and negotiating contracts. The individual will also oversee the inventory management, analyze market trends, and collaborate with other departments to meet the company's procurement needs.
Job Description:
· Develop and execute a comprehensive sourcing strategy for a diverse portfolio of pharmaceutical products, including locally manufactured goods and imported brands.
· Manage the entire supplier lifecycle, conducting regular performance reviews and risk assessments.
· Collaborate closely with the Sales, Marketing, and Supply Planning teams to forecast demand and translate it into an accurate procurement plan.
· Ensure purchase orders are placed proactively to maintain target inventory levels, prevent stock-outs of key products, and minimize excess or obsolete stock.
· Lead all commercial negotiations with suppliers on purchase price, payment terms, rebates, and promotional support to achieve significant cost savings and improve profitability.
· Developing an organization’s procurement rules and regulations
· Establishing guidelines on how often the company gets price quotes for items, the number of bids to accept and which vendors to consider.
· Managing warehouse inventory levels to ensure efficient use of available space
· Process purchases order requests to meet material demands for the location.
· Verify appropriate levels via Material Resource Planning (MRP) to determine order & delivery schedules.
· Qualifications and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
· Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in purchasing management, with at least 5 years in a managerial role within the pharmaceutical industry is must
· Strong proficiency with ERP systems (SAP MM/SD/WM modules is highly desirable) and advanced MS Excel skills.
