We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly organized Purchasing Manager to lead our procurement and warehouse operations. This role is responsible for supplier strategy, sourcing, inventory control, cost management, and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of materials to support our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong analytical abilities, excellent supplier management skills, and experience driving supply chain improvements.

Job Overview

The Purchasing Manager develops and executes procurement and inventory strategies that support company goals related to cost, quality, delivery, and operational performance. This role leads the purchasing and warehouse team, manages supplier relationships, ensures effective inventory planning, and supports cross-functional efforts to meet business forecasts and operational targets.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing and warehouse team to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Own the company’s procurement strategy, including supplier selection, development, and risk mitigation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes, inventory accuracy, material flow, and supplier performance.
  • Partner with leadership in SIOP processes to align purchasing strategies with demand forecasts, lead-time constraints, and capacity planning.

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers based on quality, delivery, capability, and cost competitiveness.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms, and long‑term supply agreements.
  • Monitor supplier performance using defined KPIs and lead corrective action processes.
  • Address supplier issues quickly and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Implement inventory strategies to optimize stock levels, reduce carrying costs, and support production stability.
  • Maintain system accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and disciplined ERP data management (lead times, MOQs, safety stock, reorder points).
  • Ensure timely and accurate receiving, material handling, and warehouse operations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production to manage new item setups, obsolescence, changeovers, and revisions.

Operations Support & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Finance, and Customer Service to align purchasing decisions with company-wide needs.
  • Provide visibility of order status, material constraints, and supply chain risks to operational teams.
  • Analyze market trends, supply chain disruptions, and cost drivers to support informed decision‑making.

Financial & Analytical Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the procurement budget, track key financial metrics, and report variances.
  • Drive cost‑reduction initiatives and track realized savings.
  • Evaluate financial risk of purchases and manage supplier‑related risk profiles.

Other Requirements

  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of management experience leading purchasing or supply chain in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems, inventory planning parameters, and data accuracy disciplines.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in spreadsheets, reporting tools, and data-driven decision-making.
  • APICS CPIM/CSCP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for supplier visits and professional development.

Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
