Purchasing Specialist

Co-op Supply is looking for a Purchasing Specialist to join our team! We are looking to fill a full-time position. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is highly energetic and can handle a fast-paced environment. The successful person in this position will be self-motivated, proactive, energetic, and willing to support all members of our team at Co-op Supply.

RESPONSIBLITIES

The Purchasing Specialist will understand all aspects of the retail supply chain, including systems and processes. They will implement vendor development, product selection and retail purchasing in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings, improve the cooperative’s efficiency and help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times.
  • Answer phones, direct calls and respond to inquiries.
  • Utilize knowledge of computer programs and report systems to aid in maintaining stock levels and accurate inventory.
  • Implementation of Co-op’s strategies for seasonal goods and inventory.
  • Help maintain plans for stock levels.
  • Help monitor supplier performance.
  • Assist store associates with questions and problems.
  • Formalizing the purchase of merchandise (preparing and editing all PO’s).
  • Check on shipment & delivery status of PO's.
  • Analyzing sales reports and proposing actions such as exit strategy’s.
  • Maintain positive, open communication with management, retail operations and staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings and communicate information on computer knowledge, problems, inventory issues, safety and security topics.
  • Regularly communicate department updates and concerns to management.
  • Positively communicate with vendors to solicit price lists, invoices and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Provide a high level of customer and employee service by following company standards.
  • Promptly assess and respond to customer and employee inquiries and complaints.
  • Communicate with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources.

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent knowledge of products.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and works well within a team.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Make the best decisions and solve problems by analyzing information and evaluating results.
  • Utilize time management skills to maximize productivity; ability to prioritize workload independently
  • Pays attention to detail, possesses strong organizational skills and shows a high level of accuracy.
  • Become proficient with Windows-based computer software, including (but not limited to) Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher and Epicor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
