Position Overview

The QA/QC Chilled Water (CHW) Specialist is responsible for ensuring quality assurance and quality control of chilled water systems, including piping, pumps, chillers, valves, supports, and associated equipment. This role oversees the correct installation, alignment, assembly, pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, flushing, and final system readiness for commissioning.

The role is hands-on, site-focused, and critical to the successful delivery of high-quality CHW systems. An immediate start and a relevant engineering degree are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

1. QA/QC Oversight for CHW Systems

  • Inspect and verify installation of all chilled water piping, valves, pumps, and chillers.
  • Ensure proper routing, alignment, supports, hangers, and assembly in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
  • Verify insulation, cladding, and protection of piping systems.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards (ASME, ASTM, SMACNA) and local authority requirements.

2. Hydrostatic & Pressure Testing

  • Supervise and witness hydrostatic testing of CHW piping systems.
  • Verify pressure test results, detect leaks, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed during testing and flushing activities.

3. System Flushing & Cleaning

  • Oversee system flushing to remove debris and contaminants.
  • Ensure water quality and cleanliness in accordance with project and design requirements.
  • Verify proper commissioning readiness of pumps, chillers, and control valves post-flushing.

4. Equipment & Pump Inspection

Inspect and verify proper installation and alignment of:

  • Chillers and associated pipe connections
  • Pumps, strainers, expansion tanks, and bypass systems
  • Valves, pressure gauges, and isolation devices
  • Confirm proper commissioning readiness with mechanical commissioning teams.

5. Coordination & Site Management

  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and commissioning teams to ensure proper integration.
  • Identify and resolve interface clashes or installation issues promptly.
  • Support subcontractors and ensure installation aligns with approved drawings and specifications.

6. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and maintain QA/QC documentation including:

  • Work Inspection Requests (WIRs)
  • Material Inspection Requests (MIRs)
  • Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Hydrostatic test and flushing logs
  • Daily inspection reports and punch-list follow-ups
  • Ensure complete documentation for final project handover.

7. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all installation and testing activities follow safety protocols and site HSE requirements.
  • Verify installation compliance with codes, standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Promote a culture of safety and quality on-site.

Qualifications & ExperienceMandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Immediate availability to join.

Experience

  • 3–8 years of QA/QC or mechanical installation experience in chilled water systems.
  • Hands-on experience with piping, pumps, chillers, valves, supports, and hydrostatic testing.
  • Experience in large-scale building projects, data centers, or mission-critical facilities preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of chilled water system design, installation, and QA/QC processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and coordination layouts.
  • Excellent reporting, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive approach in identifying non-conformances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams.

Work Environment

  • Site-based in mechanical rooms, plant areas, and external pipework areas.
  • Hands-on inspections and active involvement in hydrotesting, flushing, and equipment checks.
  • Regular interaction with mechanical, electrical, and commissioning teams.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED6,500.00 per month
