Department: Mechanical / Integrated Systems
Position Type: Full-Time, Immediate Start Required
Reporting To: Mechanical QA/QC Team Lead & QA/QC Manager (Above Level)
Position Overview
The ELV Specialist – Containment & Cabling (Mechanical/Integrated) is responsible for overseeing all ELV containment, routing, and cabling activities from a mechanical QA/QC coordination standpoint, specifically within data center and mechanically integrated environments.
This role focuses on system integration, spatial coordination, proper segregation, and adherence to multidisciplinary design interfaces. The Specialist ensures that all ELV containment systems and cabling installations comply with project specifications, authority regulations, coordination drawings, and high-accuracy data center standards.
The role is hands-on, site-based, and requires a candidate who can begin immediately and holds a relevant engineering degree.
Key Responsibilities1. ELV Containment & Cabling Oversight
- Inspect, verify, and ensure correct installation of ELV containment systems such as:
- Cable trays, ladders, baskets, and trunking
- Conduits and raceways
- Underfloor/overhead containment
- Fire-rated cabling pathways
- Monitor ELV cabling installations for:
- Proper routing and segregation
- Correct bend radius, pulling methods, and termination standards
- Compliance with mechanical pathway constraints
- Avoidance of clashes with HVAC, piping, fire safety, and structural elements
2. Mechanical-Integrated Coordination
- Work within the mechanical team structure to ensure ELV routes align with:
- Mechanical containment
- HVAC ducting and CHW piping
- Fire suppression systems
- Data hall white space coordination layouts
- Review and cross-check ELV shop drawings, BIM models, and combined services drawings for accuracy and constructability.
- Flag and resolve coordination conflicts between ELV contractors and mechanical/MEP teams.
3. QA/QC Functions
- Conduct inspections and raise WIRs/MIRs as required for ELV containment and cabling works.
- Ensure all installations conform to:
- Project specifications
- Industry and authority standards (TIA, BICSI, NFPA, local codes)
- Builder’s work and mechanical routing constraints
- Identify non-conformances, issue NCRs, and follow up corrective actions with discipline leads.
4. Compliance, Routing & Segregation
- Ensure proper segregation between:
- ELV and LV cables
- ELV and mechanical systems
- Life-safety vs non-life-safety systems
- Confirm correct installation distance, separation, and shielding in accordance with project and international guidelines.
- Verify that containment and cabling maintain data center operational and redundancy requirements.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare QA/QC reports and maintain logs for inspections, NCRs, and site progress.
- Verify and approve:
- Method statements
- ITPs specific to ELV containment
- As-built documentation
- Contribute to testing, commissioning, and integrated systems sign-offs as required.
6. Site Coordination & Technical Support
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, ELV, civil, commissioning).
- Support interface coordination with:
- Security systems
- ICT/data cabling
- BMS and monitoring systems
- Fire alarm and life-safety systems
- Provide technical guidance to ensure site teams follow the approved coordination layouts.
Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related).
- Immediate availability to start.
Experience
- 3–7 years’ experience in ELV containment, cabling, QA/QC, or integrated MEP coordination roles.
- Experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale MEP projects is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of containment routing for systems such as:
- CCTV
- Access control
- Structured cabling (CAT6A, fiber)
- Fire alarm
- BMS and controls
- IT/ICT networks
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent ability to read and interpret:
- Coordination drawings
- BIM models
- ELV/MEP shop drawings
- Strong understanding of ELV segregation rules and mechanical routing constraints.
- Proactive in identifying coordination clashes or improper installations.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and reporting skills.
- Attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality control and compliance.
- Ability to manage interface coordination across multiple disciplines.
Work Environment
- Data center–based and external site areas as required.
- Fast-paced, coordination-heavy environment requiring precision and strong discipline control.
- Regular interaction with mechanical, ELV, electrical, and QA/QC teams.
This role requires an immediate start, high technical capability, and strong QA/QC discipline to support project accuracy and compliance.
