The MEP QA/QC Engineer oversees the quality assurance and quality control processes for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in accordance with project specifications, international standards, and UAE authority requirements. With 5 years of UAE experience, the engineer ensures that all MEP works are executed to the highest quality and meet regulatory and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance / Quality Control
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific QA/QC plans, inspection test plans (ITPs), method statements, and checklists.
- Perform inspections for all MEP installations including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, electrical, and ELV systems.
- Verify that materials delivered to site comply with approved material submittals, specifications, and local authority standards.
- Conduct inspections with consultants and document results through IRs (Inspection Requests) and MIRs (Material Inspection Requests).
- Monitor work execution to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved shop drawings, and contract requirements.
- Prepare NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), SORs (Site Observation Reports), and ensure follow-up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain records of all QA/QC documentation (ITPs, test reports, calibration certificates, as-builts, etc.).
Testing & Commissioning
- Coordinate and supervise pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for all MEP systems.
- Verify testing procedures, method statements, and third-party test reports for compliance with project requirements.
- Support final testing, balancing, and commissioning in coordination with consultants and third-party agencies.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly QA/QC reports including site inspections, test reports, and quality observations.
- Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and close-out documents.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with UAE regulatory guidelines and project handover requirements.
Coordination & Compliance
- Liaise with consultants, project managers, subcontractors, and MEP teams to ensure uniform quality compliance.
- Ensure all works are executed following UAE authority requirements such as DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, DM, DCD, and ADNOC, as applicable.
- Conduct toolbox talks, internal audits, and trainings on quality standards and best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of MEP QA/QC experience in the UAE.
- Strong knowledge of UAE codes and authority regulations.
- Familiar with international standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, BS, IEC, and ASTM.
- Strong experience in preparing QA/QC documentation (ITPs, NCRs, MS, T&C procedures, etc.).
- Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Attributes
- ISO 9001 training or certification.
- Experience with main contractors or major MEP subcontractors.
- Experience in Construction or data center projects.
