HIRING - QS ENGINEER - MEP

Job Summary:

The Quantity Surveyor with an MEP background is responsible for managing all commercial aspects of MEP works throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-contract estimating to post-contract cost control and claims. This role ensures accurate cost estimation, contractual compliance, and effective cost management for MEP systems, supporting the successful delivery of projects within budget and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Contract Phase:

· Prepare and review MEP cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities based on project drawings and specifications.

· Assist in the preparation of tender documents, including bills of quantities, pricing schedules, and scope of work.

· Analyze tender submissions, evaluate bids, and prepare comparison reports.

· Conduct site visits and review MEP design drawings and specifications to ensure accurate quantity take-offs.

· Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers regarding pricing and scope.

· Provide technical and commercial input during the tendering process to ensure competitive and realistic pricing.

Post-Contract Phase:

· Manage and control MEP costs throughout the project lifecycle, including variations, claims, and cost forecasting.

· Prepare and evaluate variation orders related to MEP works, including cost impact assessments.

· Measure and value completed MEP works, ensuring alignment with contractual documentation.

· Prepare and submit interim valuations, cash flow forecasts, and cost reports.

· Monitor and track project budgets, identify cost overruns, and recommend corrective actions.

· Assist in tendering and procurement processes for subcontractors and suppliers.

· Support in the preparation and negotiation of contractual claims and disputes related to MEP works.

· Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, and maintain proper documentation for audit purposes.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying / Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field.

· Experience: 3-7 years of experience in quantity surveying, with specific focus on MEP works in construction projects (pre- and post-contract).

Technical Knowledge:

· Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction methods, and materials.

· Familiarity with international standards and local codes related to MEP.

· Proficiency in quantity take-offs, cost estimation, and valuation.

Skills:

· Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

· Proficient in QS software (e.g., Candy, CostX, Bluebeam, Planswift) and MS Office Suite.

· Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contractual documents.

· Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Certifications: RICS, CIOB, or other relevant professional memberships are a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

· Office-based with site visits as required.

· Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks.

· Willingness to travel to project sites and supplier locations.
