Job Summary
The
QC PWHT Inspector
is responsible for overseeing and verifying all PWHT activities to ensure full compliance with approved procedures, project specifications, and applicable industry codes such as
ASME B31.3
and
ASME Section VIII
. This role requires strong technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively with clients, contractors, and inspection teams throughout all stages of PWHT execution.

Minimum Qualifications
-
BE Mechanical
(full‑time) from a UAE‑approved university
-
Welding Inspector certification
(CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI)
-
ASNT Level II
in RT, UT, MPT, LPT preferred
-
ASNT Level III certificates signed by individuals are
not accepted
; only institutional certifications with 25+ years of experience
-
Knowledge of
ISO 9001:2015
preferred
Minimum Experience
-
Strong knowledge of
ASME Section IX
,
AWS D1.1
, and client specifications
-
In‑depth understanding of international codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS, DIN, JIS, etc.)
-
Ability to interpret PWHT charts is essential
-
Experience with
localized furnace PWHT
,
local PWHT
, and
site PWHT
-
Experience working with major clients such as
ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, PDO, Shell, EIL, NTPC, Technip
, etc.
-
Familiarity with various material types
-
Experience in
VT, PT, MT
, and radiographic film interpretation
-
Minimum
6 years
experience in fabrication shops and site environments
-
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team
-
Client‑specific approvals (e.g.,
Aramco approval
) may be required
Key Responsibilities
Procedure Review
-
Review and verify PWHT procedures, including heating rates, soaking temperatures, holding times, and cooling rates
-
Ensure compliance with
ASME B31.3
,
ASME Section VIII
,
ASME IX
, and project specifications
Pre‑Inspection Activities
-
Ensure the work area is clean, safe, and ready for PWHT
-
Verify correct placement and quantity of
thermocouples (TCs)
-
Confirm proper setup of heating pads, insulation, and recording equipment
-
Ensure joints are free from external stresses before heat treatment
-
Verify calibration of all inspection and testing equipment
Monitoring & Surveillance
-
Monitor heating, soaking, and cooling cycles to ensure full compliance with approved PWHT charts
-
Witness PWHT activities and verify essential variables
-
Identify, troubleshoot, and report equipment or electrical issues related to heat treatment machines
Documentation & Reporting
-
Review PWHT charts before, during, and after heat treatment
-
Prepare inspection records, daily reports, and
NCRs
for any deviations
-
Compile final documentation and quality dossiers for client approval
Post‑PWHT Inspection
-
Witness removal of heating pads and insulation
-
Ensure required
NDT (MPT, LPT)
is performed after TC removal
-
Witness hardness testing as per procedure
-
Coordinate with clients, third‑party inspectors, NDT contractors, and construction teams
